Whiter, Brighter Teeth

 

Tooth whitening creates a more esthetic appearance by reversing the discoloration of tooth enamel. Bleaching is a safe and effective way to whiten your smile and remove unattractive discoloration. Tooth bleaching entails the placement of a whitening solution on the teeth for a period of time to remove discoloration and stains. This procedure is done over a period of ten days to two weeks until the desired result is achieved. A custom-made, transparent tray holds the solution in place over the teeth. Trays are professionally made at Dr. Waidzunas’ office which is also trimmed to keep the gel off the gums if possible and keep the irritation to a minimum.

The color change is actually accomplished by free elemental oxygen, which oxidizes the stain, thus permanently removing it. The oxygen is released from a compound called peroxide. Most gels contain hydrogen peroxide. And, the greater the concentration, the greater the bleaching effect.

We have used this procedure  in the past and have found that the one visit in convenient but inconsistent  most zoom offices give you trays to do touch ups after your treatment. If technology improves in the future we may reconsider using it.
